SLEEP + FOOD = HAPPY KIDS
Depending on your child/rens age this will be handled differently but no-one is ever happy if they are are hungry or tired. I recommend giving your child something to eat before arriving at the studio and also bring along some of their favourite snacks (nothing too sticky or with strong colours). Feel free to give bub a bottle or breastfeed once you arrive to the studio if you would like.
SLEEP
Be sure to choose a time for your session that coordinates with your childs normal sleep routine (if they have one!). If you notice that bub is usually happier in the morning then book a 10am session, if they are happier after a lunch time sleep then after lunch it is. If you can’t find the right time available message me and I will try my best to accommodate you.
BEHAVIOUR
For me as a photographer, I am never bothered by kids’ behaviour…from those that run wild to others that are super camera shy . It’s all part of who the kids are and capturing their personalities is what I’m striving for at every shoot. But as a mum during a photo shoot it’s STRESSFUL!!! I get it. You want the experience to be fun and the pictures to turn out amazing, trust me, we will get some gorgeous images (even if it doesn't seem like it).
Stay positive and have fun, your child/ren will pick up on your mood, so just take a deep breath and relax.
Depending on your childs age and personality I will spend a little time getting to know them. It is common for kids to be shy on arrival and I often spend some time talking to them before we even start. Once we get going I will often stop and have a little chat or get their attention by making jokes or being silly to get that genuine smile. We don't want every image of your little one looking at you so sometimes I might have you sit away or hold a toy right above my head, behind the scenes at these sessions are always mayhem.
DESIGN
I have a large selection of props, backdrops and outfits that can be used during your session. My studio has a formal section where I will have a backdrop set up and also a lifestyle section with a chaise sofa and lots of boho cushions, this is perfect for family images and we often find that little ones can relax here and just chill out on the sofa.

WHAT TO WEAR
child I have a large selection of outfits for children both boys and girls. My boys collection ranges from newborn to size 2. My girls selection ranges from newborn to around age 10 with lots of sizes in between. There is a large collection of knitted and lacey outfits that suit all stages of the first 12 months. Almost every outfit shown on my website is from the studio wardrobe, just let me know if something specifically catches your eye from these pages. firstbirthday childrensportraits I also recommend bringing along any favourite outfits that you have for your child as well, we can decide once you arrive what will work best. Children should have clean hair, face (especially nose) and nails and we wont need any shoes for the photos. parents/mum I have a selection of dresses available to my clients to make your session even easier. Most of these dresses will suit sizes 8 - 16 and there is something to suit every body type. Lots of my dresses are perfect for maternity and breastfeeding as well as non maternity. Some samples of what is available is shown on the right here. . . . Spray Tans I know from personal experience that we look and feel so much better when we have a spray tan. I highly recommend NOT having one just before your session though. It will make editing very difficult and the orange tones tend to really show up. If you really want one, have a light one a few days before and make sure that there is no build up on hands or knees. Hair and Make-up I love natural hair and makeup so don’t feel any pressure at all to get professional hair and makeup done for your session. However, if it makes you feel the most comfortable to have hair and make up done, go for it. Hair is best loose, straightened or curled/waved depending on your style. Shoes Your feet don't usually appear in the images and often people are most comfortable with flat shoes or even bare feet. High heels can make your posture look uncomfortable in photos so I don't recommend wearing them. SNACKS Bribery can work wonders for little ones that just aren't in the mood. Keep in mind that lollies make messes and have dye in them that stains mouths and clothes. Usually this backfires and all they want to do is eat instead of pay attention to me. I suggest keeping the goodies in your bag or car until after we’ve finished. A small healthy snack is always great to have on hand though. Something that can be quickly eaten if they get those hunger pangs, cut up carrots or apples, dry crackers, sultanas are all great options. Illness Any sign of illness including cough, temperature or vomiting, please ensure that you let me know and we will book in a reschedule date. |

Before your session take a little time to go through the lookbooks (links below) or my social media instagram or facebook and screen shot a few of your favourites images to give me an idea of the style you like.
Payment
Payment can either be made with cash at your session or I can send you an invoice. The invoice will be sent after your session and can be paid either with credit card, direct deposit or paypal.

Final Note
Remember to bring along;
Bottle/s and formula or breastfeeding friendly top (if needed)
Nappies
Dummy (if you are using one)
Water and healthy non coloured snacks for you and the kids
Any outfits you have for bub or yourself and we can select the best choices from those and my studio wardrobe.
I have chosen to not have tea/coffee facilities or hot water on hand in the studio. The studio is often a buzz with busy toddlers and safety is my first priority. If a morning coffee is on your mind, drop into Mount Annan marketplace on your way in for some awesome take away options.
